About the role
TechCo is looking for a senior backend engineer to own the architecture and scale of our core platform that powers 50K+ daily active users across 12 countries. You'll work directly with the founding engineering team and have wide ownership of services from design to production.
What you'll do
- Design and build scalable backend services in Go and Python.
- Own end-to-end delivery: architecture, code, deployment, monitoring.
- Lead reviews, mentor mid-level engineers, set engineering bar.
- Partner with product to shape technical strategy and trade-offs.
- Drive performance, reliability and cost across services.
What we're looking for
- 4-7 years of backend engineering experience at product companies.
- Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, databases, caching.
- Production experience with Go and/or Python at scale.
- Experience with cloud infra (AWS/GCP), Kubernetes, observability tools.
- Strong communication and clear written reasoning.
Bonus points
- Experience with event-driven systems (Kafka, NATS).
- Open-source contributions or technical writing.
- Built or led a 0→1 product at an early-stage startup.
